Guide / 5 steps / about 10 minutes

Send an invoice.

From a ready-made starting point to a paid invoice, with a record of when your client opened it.

Before you start
  • A client already added in BravaSpace
  • Stripe connected in Apps, if you want clients to pay with Pay now
  • The amounts you want to bill
1

Client record, Portal tabs, Billing

Turn on Billing for the client

Clients see their invoices and contracts on a Billing tab. It is off until you switch it on for that client, or choose a preset that includes it.

Good to knowTo let clients pay by card, connect Stripe first: Get paid by card, on the Client Billing overview, opens the Stripe setup. Pay now then appears on every sent invoice.

2

Sidebar, Client Billing, Invoices, New invoice

Start a new invoice

Choose a starting point: monthly retainer, monthly SEO, project deposit, three-milestone project, website build, SEO audit, hourly consulting, a photo or video shoot, a blank invoice, or a copy of a recent one. Then choose the client and dates.

  • Amounts start at zero. An invoice with nothing to bill cannot be sent, so a template never bills a number you did not enter.
3

Invoice editor

Edit and choose a style

Edit every line in place. Under Style, choose Classic (logo and name on top, a clean table), Modern (a band of your brand color and a large total) or Minimal (just type and lines).

  • Your brand colors, logo and name come from My brand.
  • View as client in the More menu shows exactly what they will see.
4

Invoice editor, Send to client

Send it

Send to client marks the invoice sent, puts it in the client’s Billing tab and posts a message in their thread with a link. Copy link, in the menu beside the button, gives you the link to send your own way.

  • You are asked to confirm first.
5

Invoice editor, Activity

Follow it to paid

Activity shows a timeline, newest first: created, sent, viewed by the client, reminders and paid. If an invoice is still open, Send reminder posts a polite note you can edit first.

  • With Stripe connected, the invoice is marked Paid when the client pays.
  • If they paid another way, choose Mark paid. Void keeps an invoice on record but stops the client paying it.

If something looks different

Common snags.

The Billing tab must be switched on for that client, and the invoice must be sent. A draft is only visible to you.

Pay now appears on sent invoices once Stripe is connected. Without it, use Mark paid when the money arrives.

A sent invoice is saved by hand with Save changes. A paid or void invoice is locked except for the note: use Reopen to edit the rest.

No. Send reminder works once in 24 hours while the invoice is open, so a client is not nudged repeatedly.

No. Blank invoice starts empty, and Duplicate a previous invoice copies the lines of one of this client’s recent invoices.
