Basecamp is a well-loved place to run projects, with clients invited in. BravaSpace starts from the client and works outward. Both aim to cut the noise.

Where each one is strong.

Our own score, out of 5, for how well each tool fits client work. It is our opinion, not a test. We built one of these two, so keep that in mind.

Where BravaSpace is better

  • It is designed around each client having their own branded space, not around a project you invite them to.
  • Your name, logo, colors and font on what clients see.
  • Invoices with Pay now, and contracts clients sign online, sit inside the client’s space.
  • Search visibility from SE Ranking and Google is shown to each client.
  • AI drafts replies, summaries and reports for you to review, and Studio tools write first drafts from each client’s data.
  • Calls are booked from the same place, with a Google Meet or Zoom link and a Next meeting tile on the client’s Overview.

Where Basecamp is better

  • It is a mature, thoughtful project tool for a whole team, with a long track record.
  • Message boards, to-dos, schedules and group chat in a single calm package.
  • Automatic check-in questions are a lovely way to reduce status meetings.
  • Good for companies that are not agencies: internal projects, departments, small businesses.

You do not have to pick one

Using them together.

The two sit close enough that most teams pick one. If your day is mostly internal projects with a small number of client check-ins, Basecamp is a strong choice. If your day is mostly about keeping clients informed, approving work and getting paid, BravaSpace puts those first. A few agencies may run both, with Basecamp for production and BravaSpace for the client-facing layer. See BravaSpace for marketing agencies for how that looks.

Switching from Basecamp

Bring your clients across from Basecamp.

It is one chat with Brava: say where you’re coming from, drop in the export, check, import. You see everything before it is added.

  1. 1

Tell Brava where you’re coming from.

Choose Add a client, then Switch from another tool. Pick your tool, or Something else, and Brava gives you its export steps.

  2. 2

    Drop in your export.

Your clients and contacts from Basecamp, and projects or tasks if you want them: CSV, Excel or a ZIP. Brava reads only the column names and the first 20 rows to map the columns. Change any it got wrong.

  3. 3

    Check, then import.

A short summary, like “9 clients and 11 contacts; 1 row needs a look.” Fix that row or leave it out, then press Import once. You can still undo the import afterwards.

Read the full switching guide, or talk to us if your export looks unusual.

Questions

Fair questions.

Yes. You can invite clients to projects and choose what they see. The difference is the starting point. BravaSpace is organized around each client having their own branded space, with invoices, contracts and reporting built around it.

Both aim for calm. BravaSpace gives you a first client portal in about half an hour, using presets such as Marketing and SEO, Photography and video, and Web design.

If you mostly want to look professional to a few clients and get paid, BravaSpace Starter is built for that. If you want a place to plan all of your own work, Basecamp or a simple task list may be enough.
