Email and CRM

ActiveCampaign

Every report and message you share reaches clients' inboxes and automations as a Portal update.

What it does

Connect ActiveCampaign to your client work.

  • Portal people become contacts

Each person with portal access is upserted by email and name, tagged "Portal: client name".

    Your ActiveCampaign contacts
  • Reports and messages as Portal updates

A report added to a client's files, or a message the team sends, becomes a Portal update record (kind, title, body, link, client, time) on each contact.

ActiveCampaign custom objects, ready for automations
  • Per-client switch

Choose which clients send updates; switching one off stops its updates, its contacts stay.

    This app's Connection tab

How it works

Connect once. It keeps itself current.

  1. 1
Connect with the API URL and key

From Settings, then Developer, in ActiveCampaign.

  2. 2
    Create the Portal update object

One click makes the custom object (the first update also does it).

  3. 3
    Sync your people

New people sync when they accept an invite; everyone can be synced now.

  4. 4
Updates go out as they happen

Each shared report or team message is sent right away; the last 20 show on this page.

What Brava can change

Changes in ActiveCampaign, only when you press Apply.

Ask Brava for a change and it reads ActiveCampaign live, then shows it on a card: what changes, before and after, and the limits it was checked against. Nothing is written until someone on your team presses Apply. The proposal and the change are both logged on the client's record.

  • Tag a client's contactsCan be undone

Adds a tag to the client's portal people who are already contacts in ActiveCampaign, to start an automation or build a segment. It never creates contacts.

    • Up to 25 people per change.
    • Tag names up to 100 characters.

Undo removes the tag from the people this change tagged, and only them.

A proposal can be applied for 15 minutes; where there is an undo, it is offered for 7 days. No change deletes anything that was there before.

Before you start

What you need.

  • An admin user's API key, so BravaSpace can create tags and the custom object.
  • A plan that includes custom objects for Portal updates. Contacts and tags work on every plan.

Setting it up

Where to find it.

  1. Log in to ActiveCampaign as an admin user.
  2. Open Settings (bottom left), then Developer.
  3. Copy the URL and the Key shown under API Access.

In the app, Connect ActiveCampaign opens a guided setup with Brava: it asks for each thing in turn, tests the connection and tells you it is working.

Data and privacy

What BravaSpace keeps, and what it can touch.

What is stored

The API key, encrypted (AES-GCM) in a server-side table no browser can read (last four characters shown), the API URL, and a log of the last 20 updates (title, client, contacts reached).

Access

Mostly sends: BravaSpace creates and updates contacts, tags and Portal update records. Ask Brava can also propose adding a tag to a client's portal people who are already contacts (it looks them up by email), applied only when you press Apply on its card. It reads nothing else from the account.

Disconnecting

Disconnect on this page: the key and the update log are removed. Contacts, tags and Portal updates already in ActiveCampaign stay there.

Brava reads the error and suggests the fix. The common ones: Use the API URL from Settings, then Developer. It looks like https://youraccount.api-us1.com. ActiveCampaign did not accept the key. Use an admin user's key from Settings, then Developer. This plan has no custom objects. Contacts and tags still sync; Portal updates need a plan that includes custom objects.
